Overview
The PhD in Development Studies at Murang'a University is designed to
equip students with advanced knowledge and research skills in the
field of development. The program focuses on critical issues such as
poverty alleviation, sustainable development, and social justice. It
prepares graduates for careers in academia, research institutions,
government, and non-governmental organizations.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the PhD in Development Studies,
applicants must meet the following criteria:

A Master's degree in Development Studies or a related field from
Murang'a University or any other institution recognized by the
Commission for University Education.

A strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
or equivalent.

Submission of a research proposal outlining the intended area of
study and methodology.

Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional
referees.

A personal statement detailing the applicant's motivation for
pursuing the PhD and career aspirations.

food and other personal expenses.

East Africa Community (EAC) shall pay
20% more of the tuition fee.

Payment of Fees Fee for a semester is payable in full by the
5th week of the semester.

Registration Students are required to
register for every semester even when carrying out
research.

Exam Regulation and Grading
The PhD program adheres to the university's examination regulations,
