It is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Directorate of Open, Distance and eLearning (ODeL). The website provides an overview of services and programmes we offers to our students, faculty and staff at Murang’a University of Technology.
The Directorate is run by dedicated team. The MUT ODeL team comprising of ODeL Directorate staff, School Online Champions, ICT Staff and ODeL Board endeavours to provide the best facilities, approaches and methods that offers best online learning experience. The dedicated team at the MUT ODeL supports faculty in their search and quest for innovations, research and training approaches to online education as envisaged in the University’s vision and mission statements.
In particular, Murang’a University of Technology has embraced eLearning as a mode of teaching and learning. The University offers programmes at Diploma, Bachelors, Masters and PhDs levels through the blended learning mode of delivery.
Our ultimate goal is to admit distance learning students where we shall take education to the doorsteps of the learner. This will allow students to learn anytime, anywhere irrespective their geographical locations.
To support eLearning, the University has installed Moodle Learning Management System (LMS), which is an e-Learning Platform that is user friendly, flexible and has numerous functionalities to support eLearning. To conduct virtual classes, the University has installed a web conferencing software namely the Big Blue Button supported by Kenya Educational networks (KENET) that allow real time student- lecturer interactions. In Addition, the University provides free internet to students through numerous designated hotspots within the University premises.
