Overview
The Master of Science in Development Studies program at Murang'a
University is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and
skills in development theory, policy analysis, and practical
application. The program focuses on understanding the complexities
of development processes, including social, economic, and political
dimensions. Students will engage in critical analysis of development
issues and learn to design and implement effective development
strategies.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the Master of Science in Development
Studies program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

A bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a
related field with at least a second class honors (upper division)
or equivalent.

A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in development
practice or research is preferred but not mandatory.

Submission of a research proposal outlining the intended area of
study.

Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional
referees.

A personal statement detailing the applicant's motivation for
pursuing the program and career aspirations.

Accomodation Students shall provide for their own accommodation,
food and other personal expenses.

Foreign Students Students from outside
East Africa Community (EAC) shall pay
20% more of the tuition fee.

Payment of Fees for a semester is to be done in full by the
5th week of the semester.

Students are required to
register for every semester even when carrying out
research.

Exam Regulation and Grading
The MsDS program adheres to the examination regulations set by
Murang'a University. Students are expected to maintain academic
integrity and adhere to the university's policies regarding
examinations, including attendance, conduct, and submission of
assignments. Detailed exam guidelines are provided in the student
handbook.
